San Donato Park

San Donato Park is located just outside Sogliano al Rubicone, in the village of Vignola. This green space features outdoor fitness equipment and two unusual structures known as “concavities”, built according to an original design by Leonardo da Vinci.

The Concavities and the Acoustic System

Leonardo had observed a distinctive acoustic system traditionally used by shepherds in the Romagna Apennines, in which sound was amplified through a horn, an ancient instrument made from ox or ram horns.

Pascoli’s Yew Tree and the Book Exchange

At the highest point of the park stands Giovanni Pascoli’s “Yew Tree”, planted on the initiative of Sogliano’s primary schools. Here, visitors will also find a small free book exchange.
