San Giovanni in Galilea
San Giovanni in Galilea stands at 447 metres above sea level, in a commanding position on the ridge connecting the Uso and Rubicone valleys. The village skyline is characterised by the silhouettes of its cemetery, church and Malatesta Fortress.
A Panoramic View of the Plains and the Sea
Just beyond the Eastern Gate, a magnificent viewpoint opens onto the plains and the Adriatic Sea. At the opposite end of the hill stands the cemetery, an architectural gem that inspired the poet Tonino Guerra, who described it in one of his poems as a “flying carpet” over Montefeltro.
The Renzi Museum
San Giovanni in Galilea is home to one of the oldest museums in Emilia-Romagna, founded by royal decree in 1885 by Father Francesco Renzi, an enthusiast of ancient civilisations.
The museum preserves historical evidence and archaeological artefacts that help reconstruct the origins of the earliest Etruscan settlements, offering visitors a journey through the area’s ancient history.
