Monteleone

Monteleone is a village of refined charm, where time seems to have stood still within its ancient walls. The medieval settlement, situated at 362 metres above sea level, stretches in a crescent shape around the castle.

The earliest records of the village, mentioned as a possession of the Church of Ravenna, date back to around the year 1000.

The Castle and Piazza Byron

The ancient castle overlooks Piazza Byron, named in honour of the English poet who stayed at the castle when it belonged to the Guiccioli family.

Converted into a residential palace around the mid-18th century, the castle now provides an atmospheric setting for musical and literary events.
